FMSC

Tonight I took a group of youth to pack meals for Feed My Starving Children. FMSC works to feed children in Africa and around the world. It is a pretty amazing organization. They have packing food down to a complete science. A group works together and scoops soy, rice, vegatables, and vitamins into a bag. The bag is weighed and must weigh a certain amount (add or take out rice to get it to the right amount). The bag is sealed, and then 36 bags are packed in each box. Each bag feeds 6 kids. Our group alone packed 21 boxes. That means we packed 4536 meals. In 3 hours of our time (including transportation, getting ready, and cleaning up), we packed enough food to feed 12.5 children for an entire year.

Wow.
